Making a Difference

As I sit and write this special blog, I can’t help but reminisce back to five years ago on March 17, 2011 when a true story of incredible Faith, Trust and Strength unfolded right before our eyes.  Yes, the aching in our hearts of missing Collins is just the same today as it was when God called this precious child home because you see, it’s just not that easy to let go of any loved one and it never will be, especially when it’s a child.  There is comfort and rejoicing knowing that God made a difference in Collins life when he was saved.  With God through Collins, they made a difference together and together many lives inside and outside of our community have been and are continuing to be touched. Collins Finished Strong!

Cancer, whether it is Pediatric Brain Tumor(s), Liver Cancer, Breast Cancer, any type of Cancer it does not discriminate! Why did this have to happen to the Dixon family or to any family for that matter? Only God holds the answer to that question.

Looking back prior to 4 years ago to even now, there have been so many folks, too many to list for fear of missing someone that have “Made a Difference” and are continuing “Making a Difference”.  That is the ultimate goal of our Bend Your Knees organization.  I have witnessed with my own eyes many folks pouring out their love and support to Collins and to his family and to me and to so many others that make up this family.

I recall a comment that Collins’ mom shared with me and many other’s “Mom, why does doing the glory for the Lord have to be so hard?” Though Collins knew he was sick, with pain and fighting, his faith never wavered, not once! He also told his mom, that God must have chosen him to have Cancer.  With all he endured Collins still glorified his Savior’s name all the way to the end.

While I have talked about the pain and suffering this precious family has endured and will always endure because a piece of this once completed puzzle is now missing, this could happen to any of us at any time.  Remember, only God knows the plan.

Many children are diagnosed with pediatric brain tumors daily and we need your help.  Please join us in helping the families of these children by “Making a Difference” and “Giving Back” to our community by volunteering with your help, love and prayers to support our Bend Your Knees foundation.  We do this honor and in loving memory of Collins Fitzgerald Dixon to continue the mighty works he so graciously left behind.

These storms are real and will never go away but together with God we fight and together with God we make a difference!

I leave with you one of Collins favorite bible verses and one that reminds us that Collins is Cancer free!

Isaiah 53:5: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

I thank God for blessing me to be a part of this family and for allowing me to be part of this foundation to carry on Collins legacy to help make a difference by giving back. Until we meet again Collins!

May God Bless you all!
